AltShiftBase makes small, focused apps for Mac and iOS. Our approach to privacy is simple: the apps collect nothing. This policy covers every AltShiftBase app and this website.
The Apps
- We don’t collect, store, or share your personal data. There are no accounts and no sign-in.
- Your data stays on your device, using local files and Apple’s standard on-device storage where applicable.
- Optional iCloud sync, where offered, stores data in your private iCloud container — tied to your Apple ID and not accessible to us.
- No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, and no crash reports sent to any server.
- Exports are yours. Any file you export (for example, CSV or PDF) is created at your request and stays under your control.
Because the apps collect nothing, there is nothing for us to sell, share, or lose.
This Website
This website uses Google Analytics to understand anonymous, aggregate traffic (such as page views). It may set cookies for this purpose. No personally identifiable information is collected, and this data is never linked to your use of any app. You can block analytics with your browser or an ad/tracker blocker.
Children’s Privacy
Our apps are safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 — because we don’t collect information at all.
Per-App Notes
Individual apps may include app-specific details. Where they differ, the app’s own notes apply in addition to the above.
- Daily Focus — Timer sessions, tags, and preferences are stored locally (with optional private iCloud sync). CSV export is user-initiated; exported files remain under your control.
- MDB File Viewer — Reads the Access databases (
.mdb/.accdb) you open and writes CSV or SQLite files to the folder you choose. Everything runs on your Mac; your source files are opened read-only and never modified. Passwords you enter for encrypted databases are used only in memory to open the file — they are never stored, saved, or sent anywhere. - Page Tiles - Split & Print — Reads only the image or PDF files you choose and generates a tiled PDF in the location you select. Processing happens entirely on your Mac; files are never uploaded, and source files are not modified.
- MediaProbe — Reads the video and audio files you open in order to show their metadata; your media is read, never edited. Reports you export (JSON, text, or CSV) are written where you choose. Inspection happens entirely on your Mac, and the app ships without the network entitlement, so it cannot connect anywhere — nothing to upload, and no codecs or system extensions are installed.
